Hi,

Any suggestions for stocking a 45gal FOWLR? (first marine tank, by the way).

75lbs LR and 70lbs LS (obtained from an established marine tank) are currently in the tank. Remora skimmer to arrive later this week.

My wife's original stock plan was to go with just a half dozen yellow tailed damsels. But now she's taken a liking to green chromis. The tentative plan now it to omit the damsels and go with about 3 to 4 chromis and a small gobie of some sort.

Any ideas on what else (if anything) can be added to that mix? What alternative visually interesting stocking plans would work with this 45gal? (does not have to include chromis & a gobie).

Don't go with damsels because they are aggressive and may limit what you can add later. The chromis may be a good start, but plans and wishes often change, so I would look at every species that you can find and then develop a list. Chromis and damsels are a common starting point, and often give aquarium owners a headache when they are ready to get something else. Look at wrasses, hawk fish, dwarf angels, etc...; make a plan and add the fish in order of least aggressive to most.
