Is there a such thing? I've done 3 50% water changes this week trying to get rid of planaria. Should I wait a while before doing more? The tank is about as clean as it could be at this point. lol I have no idea what they could be feeding on. The numbers have reduced but they are still in there.

As long as you are adding dechlor and the water temp is the same as in the tank, you can never have too many water changes....go ahead and do more if thats what you want to do...your fishies will be fine ;)

Cool. Thanks. I just got the Python yesterday so it doesn't make these changes all that bad.

i've done those multiple huge water changes before, whether it be cloudy water that won't settle, little worms on the glass, or just overfeeding. i usually do 2 water changes a week, or about 30-40% of the water. i don't let the water level drop below my filters middle intake valve or it will restart and be annoying as heck to get it to start again. i can't stand the rattling it makes either.

hardy fish work can live just fine in a new tank without it being cycled, so i imagine doing huge pwcs wont hurt.

infact in my experience, i usually do 50% or more water change regularly, and ive never lost a fish

especially if you have a filter running, with all that good bacteria in the media, you'll be ok

I do 50%-80% two to three times a week.....and never had any problems....but its on my discus too....like previously said as long as you have your filter running it typically has enough bacteria in the media to support your tank and it readily multiplies so youre fine...the more the better IMO
