I have two large pieces of Mopani driftwood in my 60 gallon planted tank. Some algae is growing on it, which looks nice. But there is also a whitish, transparent slime coating on parts of it, and also parts of my cork bark backing. Anyone know what this is? For now I will brush it off and vacuum it out.

just a slime mold .. the spores were in the wood just waiting to get 'wet' so they could proliferate. just wipe it off and suck it up in the siphon when you do water changes. it's not harmful to your fish and will eventually stop coming back.
