Well, two days ago I noticed that my betta was acting funny. He was swimming crazy along the top of the water like he was trying to get air and then he would dive-bomb to the bottom of the tank usually by the java fern and just sit there. He also wasn't eating right, like he couldn't suck the food into his mouth. I had him in a 10 gallon tank and he doesn't have any outward signs of infection or disease. His poo was white, but not stringy, and it looked like it had sand in it. He likes to eat the food that falls to the bottom of the tank which has sand as the substrate. Nobody picked on him-his tankmates were 3 bb gobies, 1 blue-eye, and 2 endlers. I do put aquarium salt in the tank so it's slightly brackish, but I haven't seen signs of anything before and I've had him in there for at least four months.
I have since moved him to my husband's 30 gallon tank to see if the salt was the problem, but I haven't seen any signs of improvement. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? My water paremeters are fine and I haven't had any additions to the tank. Any suggestions or help from people who have betta's would be extremely helpful!!Thanks in advance.

he's been in the slightly brackish tank ever since i got him, which was probably six months ago. i don't know how old he was when i got him at the LFS. i feed him freeze dried brine shrimp and bloodworms, alternating every other day. he's having a hard time staying upright in my husband's tank right now.
