I have a penguin 330 that I had just about given up hope on. The flow was so poor it would not turn the wheels anymore and I had to put them in the filter wells so they didn't dry out. I misplaced the tooth brush I used to clean the tubes so they didn't get a good cleaning for quite a long time. Yesterday I bought a bottle brush, gave the tubes a good scrubbing and now the filter pumps like new again.

Great advice! I try to take apart my filters and clean everything in them once a month. But I have had the intake clog up and the flow was reduced to a trickle, eep! After that, I try to be good about it, some months better than others ;)

I hate cleaning mine but simple fact is if you dont do it every once in a while you are actually putting more work on yourself. I just cleaned mine on my new 55 gallon I have had it about 6 months and whew it was bad but not too bad I did notice a little difference in flow.
