Hey All,

I've got 2 9 inch goldfish in a 250 gallon pond and want to get some more.
Would it be ok if I get like 5 Feeder goldfish and put them in my 33 gallon long tank until they get big enough to hold their own in the pond with the big fish? Also, how big should they be before they go into the pond??

The problem is winter. I take it it will get really cold there quite soon?

Those little goldies just wouldnt make it through the winter without being properly acclimatised and its too late in the year to do that now.

5 feeder fish in the tank would be pushing it until late spring, so maybe best to wait until early spring and then you can put them in the tank for quarantining until late spring when they can go in the pond.

the smaller goldfish should be fine and not be eaten, I had seen large koi approximately 20 some inches living with goldfish around 2 inches.

No, the only fish are the two goldfish. There is also two waterlilies, and three water irises. At the time, there were no plants and we acclimated them by floating them in the pond in an icecream pail and slowly added pond water to the bucket and after a while took the fish out and put them in the pond.
