ok i hve worked with fish for a loooong time and never in my life have i ever heard of cycling what the heck is it??? :confused:

It refers to the establishment of the bacterial filtration of a tank. Cycling happens with ALL systems--some are done fishlessly using ammonia as a nitrogen source, some use hardy fish for the same purpose. Plants and seeding all come into play. All tanks cycle in that in some manner bacterial or plant beds are established to process the nitrogen wastes of fish.
