Velvet & Aquari-Sol: How many days 'til fully cured?

Jorji is my first betta ever, and I guess he was already sick when I bought him. He has this golden stuff by his gills when I shine light on him. Can it be velvet? I have Aquari-sol AND QuICK Cure. It's the 7th day since I've been treating him with Aquari-sol. How many days does velvet go away while treating with Aquari-Sol?

Was he showing any other symptoms?

He was scratching against the gems in his tank before I got Aquari-Sol. I'm not very experienced with bettas at all...

Okay good, I just wanted to be sure he was showing symptoms other than the "gold" color as some bettas do have a metallic look to them.

I've never used that product, so hopefully someone else will be able to help you out here. It sounds like you caught the velvet early, which is a very good thing.

Follow the directions on the pacakge. My gourami had velvet, and I blacked the tank out and treated him with meds on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th day as per the package of Mardel Maracide. He is doing lots better, no more gold dust and no more flashing. I will take whatever remains of the meds out today. I figure they have about a life of two days or so, since I added more about every two day.

Did you black out the tank and raise temps?

If the velvet doesn't go away after the full course of this med, I'd wait at least a week after removing the meds to try another med.
