A few days ago, upon checking my tank first thing in the morning, I noticed one of my Lemon Tetras swimming spastically in tight circles. It was like he was caught is a very stong circular current and couldn't swim. I quckly got him out of the tank and put him in one by himself, but I had to leave for work.. When I got home I expected him to be gone... but he was still around looking fairly normal. The next morning - same thing but it went away after the lights went on and he started swimming around.

I have not seen any spastic swimming but he just doesn't look right. He can't seem to stay still. When not in motion, his nose tends to tip up or down and he will be in a straight up and down position. Or he tips sideways. Then he will start swimming around and looks normal.

The tank has been set up for about 7 weeks, I cycled with Bio-Spira (with the Lemon Tetras in the tank). During the cycle my Amonia and Nitrite never went above .25 and since it completed the cycle (about a week) Amonia and Nitrite has been steady at zero, Nitrate is usually betwen 10-20. PH = 7.0.

Obviously someting is seriously wrong. I am wondering if I should just put him down or is this treatable?

Sounds like it could be a swim bladder problem..... so the fish never swims normally?

That is the closest thing I could find based on my search on the net. He was perfectly normal until a few days ago. Since then he always looks a little.....wobbly....is the best I can describe it. If he stops swimming, he "tips". Does anyone have experience with this? What can I do?

I have to agree, it sounds like it might be Swim Bladder issues. What kind of food do you feed your little friends? Is there anything else that is wrong like his color or any wierd marks on his body?

Do a search for swim bladder and you will get a few posts to pop up. You should then find a few different ways to cure it. Also you will find more information as to what causes it and how to prevent it. Usally the best way to help with this problem is to do more water changes but from the sounds of it your water prams are were they should be. Others may have some more ideas also. I Hope this helps alittle.
