Hello,
I am new to this site and New to the hobby so any input would be Greatly appreciated!
I inherited a small salt setup with a 7" Porcupine Puffer and a Domino Damsel. That was in August...I've since purchased a 55gal. freshwater setup with 2 7" Tiger Oscars and a Pleco. Last week I bought a used 150gal and another pleco and moved the Oscars and the plecos, as well as a 8" Aus. Arowana to their new home and retrofitted the 55gal for salt, got a Fox-faced Rabbit fish and a Large Purple Tang, and started the new salt community. I am contemplating purchasing a Red Finned Giant Gourami and was wondering if it might be a "good fit" for the Freshwater clan? The salt community seems to be doing fine, although the Fox-face is timid, because my puffer is like a wind up toy submarine on steroids! He never nips and I have even seen the Damsel bump him on occasion (even though he's twice her size). Any thoughts on my new friends??? :help:

Thanks,
Steve

Welcome to Aquaria Central. You are WAY overstocked in the saltwater tank (ask the freshwater questions in the freshwater forums). The puffer by itself would max the 55g. 55g is bare minimum for the Tang as a juvie so you should really be looking into upgrading tank size in the very near future. The purple tang could also be harrassing the foxface, they don't always get along. I would highly suggest returning some of the fish or getting a MUCH larger tank asap. Just my opinion. Anyway hope this helps and good luck! Welcome to Aquaria Central!

Thank You for the advice! I will be contacting the lps this morning and returning the Fox face.

What fish stores do you frequent if you don't mind me asking? I used to do "Denver runs" and go to the fish stores in Denver (Mile High Aquariums-they closed down but were awesome though!, Great Barrier Reef, Fish Den, Reef and Pond, Sherman Tank, etc). You have got some great stores down by you! Anyway good luck and hope this helps!

Hey there! Mike's Killer Fish, on Brighton Blvd. is an AMAZING Freshwater store.
I got the Tang and the Fox face at Premier Fish & Reef on Wadsworth. Great Barrier Reef? Where's that at? :hi:
