Hello everyone, I have a female swordtail that gave birth last night. When I woke this morning there were only 5 fry left but I was able to save them. I noticed that the female swordtail was hiding in the back corner of my tank and she seems to have a white spot (about 2mm) behind her left eye. Other than this I can find nothing wrong with her. I isolated her into a breeding trap because my male swordtail would not leave her alone, but she seems to want out of the trap. I am not sure what to do. Should I let her free in the tank (I do not have the money to get a quarantine tank or I would). Thanks everyone.

she may have been bitten by the male as she was giving birth..... I would keep her in there for a couple days until things settle down. Where do you have the babies as opposed to the male? Couldn't you put the babies in the breeder and the mother when they are now?

Right now the babies are in a seperate breeder net. The mother is in her own net and the male swordtail is just in the main tank. Today the female looks a little bit better but I am going to keep a close eye on her for a few days and hope for the best. So far so good though. Thanks for the advice!
