View Full Version : Silver molles have black spots!?
i have 5 silver mollies in a 30g tank right now and one of them just recently started getting black specs...is she sick??? should i remove her from the tank so the others do not get sick?
....just noticed black area behind the gills as well...all she does is hang out at the bottom of the tank, and she isnt using her tail to swim at all, it just stays semi-bent to the side. i do not foresee this to be a good thing

I would definitely QT the sickly looking one. That bent spine thing seems to just be a generic indicator that something is wrong (although by the time it shows up, general behavior is usually good enough). I would guess some kind of body fungus, but I haven't ever had that kind of problem.

Her tail is bent , not her spine^

aright thank you, i do not really know what QT stands for but i separated her from the rest. i also do not know how to nurse a fish back to health so a little guidence in this area would also be helpful. thank you very much

i've done a bit more research on it and i think i've come to the conclusion that it is black ich. i thought that it might be flukes before but the symptoms are not the same. thanks again.

Somehow I doubt that her actual finnage is creased to the side. Since the spine runs the whole length of the body, the "tail" portion being bent would include the spine, no?
QT = quarentine, sorry for the confusion.
