My Roomie has offered to sell me a gravid rosy barb and a male or two, so I have a few questions.

1.) Can Rosies be shipped while gravid?

2.) Is there sexual dimorphism in Rosy Barbs?

3.) Would a 20g high with well water be okay water conditions for them, or should I get distilled H2O for that tank instead?

4.) If I were to do fishy cycling, would the females be too weak to handle the situation?

(I am still thinking about fishless cycling, or considering the tank cycled already, since the gravel and filter have already been through a couple rounds of fish.)

Female egglayers are gravid as often as not, so I don't see a problem.

Males are more brightly coloured.

Childawg,
I have a question. I have seen the term "gravid" used a few times here lately. What exactly is that? I'm just not sure.

Thanks for the info in advance,
Dave

No biggie!!:) I was just trying to learn something new. Sometimes the way to learn is just ask a question.:D

And gravid goes to the AC Glossary Project as the first definition from someone besides by roomie and myself.
