Has anyone ever set up a small aquaponic system? I have a small basil cutting doing ok on my windowsill and was looking into hydroponic growing techniques for it (yet another hobby, sheesh....) and ran across the aquaponic technique. Dont know why I hadnt thought of this before, it seems so simple and efficient! But Im wondering if anyone has any first hand experience? Heres the article that got me thinking....

no one? Seems like it could be a neat way to combine interests (fishkeeping and container gardening), but Im sure there are drawbacks in both, just not sure what.

bonzais are pretty cool, tricky though. Ive seen fruit bearing trees in books, VERY cool stuff!
But aquaponics is where you combine a fishy tank with a water-based (water and gravel, basically) plant growing tank, creating a simbiotic relationship btwn the two. There are pumps involved that move the nutrient laden water from the fishtank to the plant. But, Im not too clear on all the other details, hence my posting here.

I've done it with peace lilies.
