Suggest for me a few larger community fish that wont screw up a planted tank (75 gallons) and will go well with some clown loaches.

I dont really want tetras because im bored of tetras. Something that is may grow to the 8 inch range and has lots of personality, like clown loaches do.
I liked the silver dollars but they eat plants. Will a school of tinfoil barbs be too much?

Well a school of clown loaches will actually be too much for that tank. But I would guess some of the mid sized gouramis, tin foils, Rosey Barbs, or Angels might be nice.

maybe get a black ghost knife, clown knife, africian knife or something along those lines. i think they are awesome and they get big.

Tinfoils get big... and fast. I don't know if you've read any of my recent posts, but I had 2 tinfoils in my 55, and in 2 months they went from 2" each to 5" and 5.5" specimens. This may be slightly accelerated compared to others success, but with a maximum size of 10-12", they may outgrow your tank kinda quick. (I honestly didn't think they'd grow so darn fast) One other caution about tinfoils is that they are very active and powerful... and they were knocking my plants around kinda bad. Gouramis are really pretty, seem to interact well in groups, and are not so "typical" as tetras, though I personally like tetras also. A huge school of cardinals looks amazing in a well planted tank, but I don't know if clown loaches would go for them or not when they get bigger... my clown loaches like to chase down and eat endlers that I feed my african brown knife. As far as the clown knife goes, you may want to stray away from them also... they get huge... frequently ranging between 24" and 36" in length. Fascinating though they may be, a clown knife would need a bigger tank than a 75. The black ghost knife is kinda iffy... he'll be a little cramped in a 75. African brown knives are rather active, and are really cool to watch much like the other knives, but they don't get nearly as big, usually topping out at 8"-12". Australian and Bosemani rainbowfish are really cool to watch, they get to approx. 4"-5" each, and they won't mess with your plants.

clown loaches will uproot plants....

i had a 15" Black Ghost Knife in a 55 Gallon Tank and he was very happy. He had his cave to hide and thats all he needed. They are nocturnal though, that could be a big negative to some people tank.

what about some butterfly fish. they are awesome and will get along with most fish.
