Hey all!
I am working on putting out a semi-official AC glossary, so any abbreviations or definitions which we use and you don't understand--reply to this post, and I will put 'em in the new glossary! v. 1.0 should be out before May 1!

Thanks for those ones, the kind words, and the *bump*, Thom! I am adding the acronyms to my list as I write this (my list is on a 3*5 notecard until I get a chance to sit down and type the glossary's beginnings next week).

Hmm, good catches, Starry! I used to be a chem major and a TA for gen. chem. lab, but apparently skimming lists isn't one of those skills which I retained!

Some other acronyms used by plant people often:

RUGF/RFUGF - Reverse flow undergravel filter
BBA - Black Beard/Brush Algae (I have seen it called both)
BGA - Bluegreen Algae - the dreaded cyanobacter.
SAE- Siamese Algae Eater
MTS - Malysian Trumpet Snails
Gh - General hardness (measure of Ca and MG ions)
Kh - Carbonate hardness (measure of CO3 ions)

I googled around and found this:

which might be useful for you.

One other note, aquabotanic has a list here which might be helpful as well:

Can we invent some much needed acronyms? Here is mine: LBS = Local Building Supply

I think of all the forums that this is posted in, the glosarry for Aquatic Plants will be the most viewed (and usefull!) I will certainly make good use of the above terms.
BTW, Chilli, when do you publish?

Not sure yet, but I will try to have it done by May 1 so that I can get a better draft done by the end of my school year. (I don't know how much comp. time I get when I go home for the summer!)
