Starting last Thursday, my male rainbow cichlid starting acting oddly:
he now lays on the bottom of the tank unless its feeding time - he then swims vigorously and eats as much food as he can. however, he is trying too hard to swim, and the moment he stops actively swimming, he sinks back to the bottom of the tank.
I think his swim bladder is somehow not working. he is still eating, and is able to keep himself upright on the bottom of the tank, but he cannot keep himself afloat.
any suggestions on the actual problem he has, and any possible treatments?
I don't really know of anything to do with swim bladder issues....
