I just got one blue ram (not sure of the sex yet, still a juvenile, less colour, etc.) and want to soften and acidify my water as per their needs.

I ordered Peat Plates by Hagen from Big Als since I only have an Aquaclear 20 (10g tank). I wasnt sure if adding a custom media bag would fit in the power filter/impede water flow since I already have a foam insert, carbon and biomax insert.

Has anyone used the peat plates/know how effective they are? How do you use them? Do they go under the substrate? From the pictures they just look lie retangular blocks of peat fibre.

Thanks

cancel the order. if you really want to use peat just buy Spangum Peat--without any fertilizers added--and go from there--soooooo much cheaper. Lawn and Garden Store. Media bag in the filter.

Search "Peat Bomb" on google and you will get the most effective way to utilize peat.
