what does it look like? it could be some form of water nymph (baby dragonfly). They are predatory so remove them as you find them.

uuuuhhhhh.... what kind of bug is it? did you put it there? can you get us a pic and/or describe it to us? just saying you found a dead bug isn't enough info for a proper prognosis.

Ya, I feed my fish any bugs I can catch, well atleast any bugs I can catch without too much effort any way.
Bettas, gouramies, danios and tetras all happily pick away at them. Some swallow them whole.

I think it was just a normal bug. I think it was attracted to the light and drowned. I didn't really look at it I just chucked it.

It could of polluted the water with toxins/ A lightning bug died in my tank right before My goldfish died.. Hmm. Was it the fact I didnt know anything about fish at the time?? Or was it the bug??

It probably wasnt the bug. If youre worried about insecticides and such (rightly so, IMO), you can do a large-ish water change.
Had to giggle at this...
I think it was a normal bug.
Where Im from, this can mean anything from a mosquito to a 2" flying cockroach. We Texans like to be specific when we say "bug"!

i've captured fruit flies, small insect flies, ants, and mosquitos for both my bettas if they are ever around in my house. they love to gobble them up whole, a real nice treat from processed food.
