Bichirs, and peacock eels

what do you feed those guys? bloodworms, flakes, wafers?

I don't know about the peacock eel but I found this about birchirs.

A carnivorous fish, the Bichir requires live food in its diet as well as chopped meats and beef heart.

It doesn't require live foods.

You can use frozen foods in its place. I wouldn't feed live foods unless I raised them myself, which I do. I feed mine live but not because I have to, but because I enjoy watching them stalk their prey.

I only feed live once a week. The rest of the time they eat flake,pellets and other frozen foods such as brine shrimp,bloodworms and sometimes I'll throw in a earthworm from a bait store. They also like algae wafers.

Simply thaw and feed

most fish filets (avoid salmon i think its to oily)

to prepare the above cut it into strips and remove any fat you can find
fish do not digest mammialian fat well
Live foods include
ghost shrimp
earthworms
tadpoles(see next line)
some species of frogs(many species of frog release toxins and irratnts when attacked)
African dwarf frogs are a natural part of the diet
mealworms feed only the recently shed ones the chiton in the exoskeleton
can be hard to digest and in some can result in intestinal blockages.
There is really no reason to use feeders except as the ocassional treat.
Various live fish and fry can be used for foods.
Pellitized foods
Can be found in various diameters and include sinking and floating pellets
shrimp pellets
worm pellets
even pellets for cichlids will work
spirulina sticks
brine shrimp sticks
Algae wafers

My peacock eel will eat frozen on occasion but not near enough to keep him healthy. His favorite food is red wigglers and will sometimes eat ghost shrimp. Very picky eaters. Keep in mind that ANY food you feed a peacock eel needs to be 1 inch or less.

Why not? My bichirs get both occasionally.....well, bullfrog tads and juvenile clawed frogs.

As far as diet items, BeBlondie pretty much covered everything I would have suggested....although I never use spirulina sticks or wafers for my bichirs.
