I dont know whats goin on, he was I've had him for almost 4-5 months now, i woke up this mornin and found him on his side and thought that he was dying, but then he got up, chased my bala, and then stopped to rest, whenever he stops moving, he starts to flip onto his side, and he's having erratic swimming, i think its a swim bladder problem, any suggestions/remedies?

What size tank are we talking about?

Current ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings?

I just changed water yesterday so there should be no probems, its about a 15-20g tank, all my fish are pretty small, i plan to upgrade in the next month or two

It would help if you gave us the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate readings.

How many and what other kinds of fish?

Hi Skills, welcome to AC.

Sounds like you may have some water issues going on, or possibly some aggression issues. As was already asked for, what are your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings? What other kind of fish do you have in the tank, have you added anything new recently?

yes, i just added a tiger barb and a new bala, but they seemed to act fine together, and the albino rainbow shark attacks them whenever they get too close to his cave, the lady at pets-mart put a stress-coat on the tiger barb, could that have done anything, i have 2 balas, 1 tiger barb, and one albino rainbow shark, i know my rainbow shark is tuff cause he survived a devestating outbreak of disease in my tank a while back.

Do have the test kits to get the readings asked for?

If not, can you get a kit today? Or take a sample of the water to the pet store and have them test it?

The new fish shold have been QT'd before putting them in your established tank.

Your upgrade, since you have a bala, which should be kept in groups, needs to be at least 125 gallons.

What would you need salt for?

I think what is happening is your bala's are beating up on your albino shark, and your albino shark is either stressed or injured, possibly both. Do you have a seperate tank you could move your albino shark to?
