:) I have a 125 gallon South American cichlid tank that has been set up for almost four years now. The filteration on this aquarium is an aquaclear 110 and two eheim classics 2215 canister filters. I also have two small powerheads in this tank to help with surface aggitation. I also have a small bendable bubble wand going too. The current inhabitants are one huge Texas cichlid, one Jack Demsey, one Firemouth, one Sinspylum, and one Leporuntus. There are also two rather large pictus cats, one striped rapheal, one spotted rapheal, and a common pleco that is about four inches long but is steadly growing.
My question is this. The tank is six foot long and the lighting on this aquarium are just the normal fixtures that come standard on setup like this. There are two light fixtures that sit side by side with one bulb each in these fixtures. I would like to add an extra light fixture to this setup. I have an extra fixture that used to be on my 46 galllon discus tank. I would like to use this light fixture on this aquarium. It is 36'' long and holds two bulbs that sit next to each other. I was thinking of getting some blue actinics for this light fixture and setting it up on a timer like I have the other lights on my other aquariums. I want to set it up so the blue actinics would come on first and shut down last after the other lights are already off. Kinda like setting up a sunrise and a sunset for them. Would this be good lighting for them? Will it bring out thier colors? All of my cichlids are in the adult stage and thier colors have come in nicely so naturally I would like to show them and display them in thier best lighting to show thier best colors. Or is there another lighting combinaton that I can use with these fixtures that will work better to enhance thier colors?
So what do you think? Any thoughts?
Any and all suggestions and advice are always welcome.
