Finally My Tank Is Coming!!!

Hey Guys!

After alot of posting AND EVEN MORE waiting! i have found out that i can only have a 55g tank on my second floor and i am ready to go!

I am going with a planted tank!, i will be putting the plants in while my tank is cycling this is the list of plants:

Java Fern
Java Moss
Dwarf Ambulia
Water Sprite
Tape Grass


As any of u who have read my posts know I HAD NO! idea of what fish i wanted! I kept changing my mind! But then at Bigals (lfs if ya'll don't have them were ya live THEY ARE GREAT....just think the total! opposite of Wal mart!) I saw one of their show tanks AND I WAS BLOWN AWAY THE FISH WERE AMAZING TOGETHER!!!

So here are the fish i will have:

3 glass cats
6 rummynose tetras
5 phantom tetras
2 zebra loaches
1 clown loach (p.s. i did not want it but my mother will kill me if i do not get one....seriously she showed me the knife)
1 yellow pleco (need help I CANNOT FIND IT! stays small like a pitbull but is all yellow and it is wider)
1 flying fox
3 Juli cory cats

There were also 2 angles, and other fish that i could not remember

I also was wondering if i could possibly put in 2 bolivian rams, some rainbows, and maybe red line torpeedos

The thing that really turned me on to 100% wanting a planted tank IS HOW REALLY IT WAS!! I probley looked like an *** cause i was watchin the tank for like 20 mins! i could not take my eyes off it! cause ever minute another fish would come out! it was so cool! ( i know i am a loser lol)

So what do ya'll think, i would really like to get some feed back! since i am not getting the fish till the tank is done cycling i have a while to make SMALL!!! changes to get the combination just right!

P.S. the numbers of fish are not 100% correct i will be goin back to count the numbers and get all the fish names later!

if you want the glass cats, i would skip the black phantoms and get 3 or 4 more of them. a school of 3 is just to small for their well- being.
it is probably going to end up being OS since you are also adding two angels. BTW if you are adding angels, i would risk keeping the rummynozes with them, since they stay rather small, and the angles get to around 6 inches. people have know angels to eat neons and cardinals, but once they get bigger than 5 1/2-6" they may start looking at the rummynozes as a dilecatable dish.
i wouldnt add anything else except a few more Juhli corydoras.
IDK why your mom would kill you over getting a fish, but if she is willing to kill someone over something like this then maybe she should get her won tank and have a school of them.
 
I am with you on the planted tanks--they are entrancing. One idea, since you are planning on doing a planted tank, is to do a planted cycle. It is a bit trickier, but a lot faster. The drawback is that you have to add your fish really slowly--which is not bad if you qt your fish. I'd recomend quarentining your fish, as medicating a 55g would be a hassle if they all got ich.

You've said that you love corys, so you might want to cut back on some of the other fish and get a bigger school. Trust me on the fact that corys will be much happier in a school bigger then 3. I have five in my 55g and they are so much more happy then when there was only 2 in a 20g. In fact today one of them spawned.
