I'm starting my first SW tank, probly reef eventualy. I've been doing alot of reading but I'm definatly open for suggestions, so heres what I already have : 29gal all glass, sea clone skimmer, 100 watt heater

Heres what I plan to buy soon: 40lbs reef sand, 5gal pal of reef salt, power head, hydrometer, thermometer, 25 lbs of tonga LR uncured

And heres what I plan to buy in the near future: PC light setup, fish of some sort

So tell me am I on the right track or am I missing something and also what all grows on live rock Ive seen alot of tanks and I'm just wondering what all is natural to the LR and what you would need to buy to make it look good

I wouldn't use any filter but, the live rock do get a power head though. You'll want the water in a reef tank to turn at least 10 times per hour and more is better. I also wouldn't buy reef sand I just get any arogonite based sand and let it turn to live sand during your cycle. It will save a bunch of $ and you can buy cultures of critters on line to populate it with if you don't get enough/right kinds off of your l.r. ,"you might want about 5 more lbs of l.r. but, you really should be ok with 25."
There could be anything growing on or in the live rock that's 3/4 the fun and 3/4 of the trouble. I'd expect at least some coraline and bacteria any other statement would be a blind guess. Oh, keep your ammonia under .1 ppm during your cycle and you'll lessen the die off.

You mentioned "cultures of critters online." Where would you find that type of thing?

My live rock did a great job of speeding up the cycle, but I haven't seen one hitchhiker other than some algae and plant growth. Spent too much time in the wet newspaper, I'm afraid. Some growth is coming back, but no animals made it through.
