I just got a German Blue Ram a few days ago from the LFS. He looks like a Ram, has the black spot, the black spikes just above his head and the red around the eyes...so whats the problem?

He is tiny and lacks colour! He doesnt have the gold or the blue. When the light hits him just right he has a blue irridescence to him, but thats about it! And he's small, about 1.5 inches.

I'll admit my water is a bit hard but I'm getting peat for that so the problem should go away. That is the only thing I can think that is stressing him (if thats the problem). Tetras are fine, brilliant colouring on all of them.

HELP!

how about ph? and what do u mean he looks like a ram? is that what the lfs sold it as? a "german blue ram" or "bolivian ram"

they sold it as a german blue

how big is it? It could have been on a poor diet at the lfs which can effect color also they will color up more the bigger they get and you are right it could still be stressed. Is it eating? What are you feeding it? I just read 1.5 in give him some time feed him well nutritioned meals. He should color up.
