Flowerhorn bump

I just picked up a 12 inch Flowerhorn. He/She does not have a bump on it's head yet, and I know that the females don't have the bumps. I am estimating that this fish is about 1 1/2 years old. my question is should this fish have the bump developed by now, if it is a male? Or does that typically take a little longer?

i have one thats about 5" that has a very noticable bump. u can pretty much start seeing it at around 3 1/2"-4". sounds like u have a female.
