Hello all. Ok, all systems are go,ammo is 0 nitrites are 0,did a 90% water change and nitrates are 12 mg/l. I went to my lfs and got 5 red minor tetras and a blue mystery snail. My questions are: 1. how long do I keep them in the bag,and how often do I add my water to it.And 2.do I have to do the same for the snail?

I will offer to you what I was told. Keep them in the bag as long as it takes to slowly fill that bag with your aquarium water, doing 1/4 cup every 20 minutes or so. Others may have other opinions.

I've had good luck with floating the bag for 10 minutes, then poking a couple holes in the bag and let it float for another 20 or 30.

It works really well for me:)

Thanx everyone for your quik replies!!!!!Well,I got home with the fish around 9 pm.I put the bag in,logged on here and then got something to eat.So basicly the bag was floating for about 10 or so mins before I read coreymacs reply. I have added 1/4 cups of water twice so far.So I guess I'll just speed up on adding water, from the looks of things they seem to be fine as of now.Oh,I bought 5 red minor tetras, and 1 blue mystery snail.

After I add them to my tank, should I feed them? There is no algae in my tank for the snail to eat.....but I no about ....cuttlebone? and diff types of veggies and fruits. He'll be ok until I can get these things tomorrow....right?

Ok.Introduced red minors and blue mystery to tank. All seems well, except the tetras are just kinda swimming around in one corner of the tank.Still alil jittery maybe? The snail is all over the place, which is cool. But now that I have a school of 5 red minors, what could I add next to go with them??

If you have existing fish in the tank you will want to feed them just before adding the new ones. I have found that new fish ussually arent ready to read to eat for a few hours after being introduced to a new tank, the food just never gets eaten. Personally, I introduce new fish into the tank at night and feed them in the morning, this leads to less bullying IMO.

The snails should be fine, I noticed that my snails never really eat everyday anyway. Since they usually are night guys, if you have a small leaf or lettuce or some other kind of fruit or veggie you can soak it in a small cup of tank water until late this afternoon and then put it in the tank.

Do a search for snails on this forum, I've seen some recent post snails here that give wonderful ideas on calcium in their diet. I put in small pieces of cuttlebone. Boil the cuttlebone for about 30 minutes (just to get it to sink). Even if the snails don't eat it the water will leech the calcium out.
