some of my anacharis is growing up to the top of the tank and laying over at the surface like I want. Some of it though for some reason is is laying over in the tank. I don't have CO2 in it yet, but will be shortly, would that affect the rigidness of the anacharis stem?

hmm

nah, the main thing I am trying to understand is why some of the plants are straight to the top and then floating on the surface and some of them are just laying over underwater about halfway up my 55 gallon.

I have some anacharis and recently added co2, the plant just seems to grow faster, but still has a rather unruly growth habit, growing in a crazy sort of way. The co2 did not affect the overall strength or thickness of the stem, but the foliage is a bit more robust.

how long has it been planted? thats just what its going to do, really the only way around it is to either trim it all the time so it wont get high enough to lean over; grow more straight standing plants next to it to give it some support; or get a stake and tie the plant to it for support(not recomended). you can also cut down the flow in the tank as not to disturb the plants, and when you do get co2 it can diffuse in the water longer.

heh

nah I don't think it is a light thing. They are probably just laying over in the current from my Aqua Clear filter. They have been planted for about a 3 weeks. Though I did redecorate it recently. I initially had all of my plants intermixed, moneywort, anacharis, wisteria, and water sprite. Now I have the annacharis in the all together around a stump in the right corner and the moneywort growing togehter in the left corner with the shorter wisteria and watersprite growing in the middle.
