Help!!!

I just got two new neons to add to the 3 that were already in the tank (10g planted).

It has been about three days since they were introduced now and one of the tetra's is having a real difficulty swimming. He's almost vertical at times, and always up near the top of the tank. He seems to be gasping as well (mouth is opening and closing really quickly). none of these symptoms are exhibited in the other tetras, German Ram or two otos that are in the tank.

Anyone know what to do???

sounds like it could be a swim bladder problem. This could be caused by a bcteial infection. I would quarantine the fish. always quarantine new fish before adding them to the tank.

it may be just that it ate too much or a variety of other problems. the problem is you never know what new fish are carrying. i would do some water changes and get that fish out of there if possible so that it will not transfer to the other if it is something contageous.

Its too late...he's gone to that big aquarium in the sky. Almost 5 minutes after I posted I saw him attached to the intake of the filter, what a horrible way to go.

RIP
