I was wondering for everyone's own experinecs how fast JD's grow? Like an inch a month or lower. Do you females smaller then the males? Just wondering, thank you for all your time.

only from experience, mine grew to about 5 inches in the first year, the most growth being seen in the last 6th months of that year (like almost a half an inch a month). and then in just this last year he has almost reached 7.5 inches.

its really hard to say since tank size, water conditions, food and genetics play such a factor.

I got "Jack" back in May; was 2-3 inches long at the time.

Now pushing 6-7; will have to upgrade the tank a little faster than I had planned....

I think its 5 inch the first year and they slow down growth to 2 inches the next year.
After that an 1nch a year mean while they just keep filling out.
It seems to be about the same in my experience with TX cichlids, Red Devils and Green Terors.

I could be off a bit but that is what I have seen in the past with my fish.
