Does any body kno anything about the standard magnum 250 hang on filter.I want to add one on my reddevil tank.

Best bang for the buck mech filter when you run the micron cart. You can add DE which will make it filter even finer stuff out, but then you have to clean it more often. If you need bio also, get the wheel for it. I run 2 HOTs full time and use a 3rd as my tank vaccum.
Had one for a couple years. Very, very quiet (on par with the AquaClear 500 I used to run on my big tank). All the pluses that TTA mentioned. The Micron filter is reusable, too (immerse overnight in a 25% household bleach/water solution). I keep two Micron cartridges handy; one for the filter, one cleaned and ready to go for a swap.
