I have 5 tanks now, having aquired a 38g tank Sunday. So I need some ideas for mixing and matching the stocking and shifting the fish around in my tanks to take advantage of the new space.

Right now I have these fish:
1 dwarf flame gourami
5 bronze corys
15 rasbora espei
2 sae
14 tiger barbs

And these are my tanks:
55g planted
20g planted
20g
38g
10g

These are the fish that I want to get:
Angelfish
otto
bolivian rams
betta
possibly some kind of tetra

The only tank that the stocking is fully settled is the 38g tiger barb tank--they are all going in there together. Also, the ten gallon is mostly a hospital/qt tank--could I keep something in it semi-perminantly?

I'd put the angels and siamese algae eaters in the 55, possibly the tetras here too if you get a species that is too big to be eaten by the angels. I'd put the rasboras in a 20, and maybe put the rams in there too. In the other 20 I would put the dwarf gourami, the cories, and whatever tetras you decide (if you deicde for smaller ones that may be angel snacks, but not too small like neons that may get picked on by the gourami). In the 10 could go the bettas and otos if you really want to use it, although I would recommend having a quarantine tank.

Edited to add: You could also put the cories in the 55 if you wanted, and add to the group.

That is what I'm thinking--the cories are hard as heck to move, especially in a planted tank. If I had the five corries in the 55g, with the two sae--could I get two angels and maybe a handful (6-7) of either lemon tetras or silvertip tetras?

Then would the two rams do best in the planted 20g? I will have low light plants in the other tank--but the planted one is pretty densly planted. I'd considered splitting the school of rasboras between the two 20gs--but I don't know if the gourami would get along with them--he's feisty.

Originally all of the rasboras were going to go into the 55g with the gourami--but when I got another tank for the barbs it freed up a 20g tank, so I could get angelfish (which I wanted originally). Would a 20g be overstocked with the 15 rasboras and two rams?

Okay here is what I would do:

55g
2 Angelfish
6 Lemon Tetras
5 Bronze corys
SAE

20g
Bolivian Rams
7 Harlequin Rasboras

20g
Dwarf Flame Gourami
8 Harlequin Rasboras

38g
14 Tiger Barbs
SAE

10g
Betta
3 Otos
4 or 5 Neon Tetras

That sounds nice--except no other fish can live with the barbs--they are mean as all get out and eat each other and any other fish for dinner. I think the ottos would like the planted tanks--but ottos and angels are scary together--even juvie angels like I plan on getting. There is a breader of koi and sunset angels in my area--I plan on getting them from him.

You could move the otos to the 20g planted and the SAE to the 55 I think that might be pushing it though.
