NitrAte ? for Plantbrain

I have a 2 1/2 gallon tank that I use to fishless cycle filters with using pure ammonia. NitrAte levels get extremely high, well over 150ppm. Is this a good source of nitrAtes for planted tanks?

I suppose if there's no NH4 left.

Why not use KNO3?
