I'm not sure why they are dying, but I think your aquarium is too small to adequately keep them in.
yes, bottom dwellers traditionally aren't good in hex tanks.... in fact, hex tanks aren't good for fish period IMO. they make great arboreal terrariums, though.

I find proper acclimation is key for cory survival. Initally IME corys can be very easily stressed (esp smaller breeds) when first introduced and just die for apparently no reason whatsoever. It took me a while to figure out but after losing a bunch of pandas, I began acclimating them by slowly adding more and more of your own tank water to the bag until it is mostly tank water and not LFS tank water, I've done this as slowly aas a few hours but over the course of an hour is probably fine. I then net them and put them in to the tank. This prevents anything funky from the LFS water getting in to your tank. Also, keep the light off for a day. This has been the ONLY way any of my corys have lived through the inital introduction. HTH!
Good Luck.
BTW, this should be in bottom feeders no?

Sorry for the delayed replies, some reason these aren't being sent to my email.

Anyway, some background.
First of all my most resent loss was my original Cory Cat (2 months from LFS). A few weeks ago, I got 5 more to make a school and additionally a school of neons. Then neons all died 2 days out. That's when I found out neons are troublesome. My cories have been slowly dying over the last three weeks. The last to go (Twitch) was my oldest. I understand that if I lose on in the first week then it's an acclamation/pre-existing issues, but these guys would go 2-3 weeks and with Twitch it was 2 months.

Since my last loss, my remaining two cories seem active and lively. I added some white tip and blood fin tetras cuz forums/LFS guy said they were hardy, and the cories seem to liven up even more....I also think I was overfeeding.

Additionally since I have mid-tank feeders I've stopped with the sinking waffers and just let them munch on the bits the tetras miss.

I've also started methods of reducing hardness with drift wood and peat, hopefully this will keep my cories around.

All thoughts and comments welcome and thanks all.
