Hey all, I'm new to the forums and in need of some help.

I have two goldfish (black more and fantail) in a 10 gallon tank along with one or two plants and recently the tank has been very cloudy and hard to clear up to normal "crystal clear" standards.

It all started a month ago when I had to move from FL to NY for school. The water was perfect beforehand, though once I moved my fish got stressed from a long car ride in the passenger seat (I tried to make it as little of a stressor as possible) and since then, the water seems harder to keep clean. It's always slightly brown in color and murky.

I bought a new, stronger filter since golfish are dirty, have been doing partial water changes (20%) every 3-4 days and cleaning the bottom with a suction tube. I'm not overfeeding them since I watch to make sure they eat all their food. I'm not sure what to do nor what's causing this. :( It's been a month, so I'm sure all the bacteria have had a chance to regrow since the move.

Any help would be appreciated. My poor goldfish don't seem too happy in the gross water.

well i am sure first thing anyone here will tell you is that each goldfish requires 20 gallon, so 2 in a 10gallon is very overstocked. But you probably already know that.

In term of cloudy water, most times it's ok. Did you test your water params? Added any decor like driftwoods to the tank, and what kind of filter / substrate are you using?
