My senegal bichir has a mouth circumfrence big enough to fit 2 small tiger barbs but i have a shoal of tiger barbs and the bichir isn't eating any of them,it did tried stalking but never plunged and swallow the barbs,is it because of the shoal size(20 something) or is it traumatic experience the bechir has gone through(being almost swallowed by a jaguar in another tank, being bitten by a flowerhorn several times for moving all over the place) but it is not sick since it eats pellets.

bichirs have terrible eyesight. they are practically blind. the tiger barbs probably move around too much for the bichir to "get a lock." keep an eye on him at night, he'll have much better chances at night (they are nocturnal, and hunt naturally at night) since the barbs should be less active.

btw, do you want the tiger barbs to be food, or are you hoping to house them together? in time the barbs will be food. I have a delhizi and I feed him earthworms, frozen krill and frozen beef heart. he loves all 3. I also keep home grown mosquito fish in his tank for dithers/food source.
