I just recieved my new eclipse system 6 in the mail from Big Al's and was wondering about the watts for live plants. It comes with a 12 inch 8 watt bulb. Is this enough for low light plants or do I have to buy a different bulb?

Fluorescent bulbs are pretty much restricted to a certain wattage by length so you can't buy a bulb that will give you more wattage, unless you totally retrofit and replace the ballast as well.
That is very low light, but you should be fine with java moss & fern, crypt wendtii, anubias nanas, and marimo balls.
