My mom just got a new tank^ for our living room. Its a 20 g Long and I'm anxious for stockings..! I am hoping for a castle/themed tank. It will have fake decor(Unlike my realistic planted tank...) and maybe some plants.(Its got sun-glo 20 something watt lighting. :p: )Can you guys post some suggestions on fish/ideas on the tank please??

Cories, smaller barbs, tetras...really there are a few different ways you could go. I myself have a 20l and it contains some cherry barbs, pepper cories and also a small male/female pair of Blue Acaras. The blues will need to be moved but the convicts as stated above my work instead.

There are alot of different ways you can go with a 20L. It really depends on what it is you want as a look. What kind of fish do you like, is the thing? Let us know then we can tell you if it will or will not work.

Rams may do well in a 20L. I'm not sure, though. I've heard of them being good for a 20H, but not sure about the 20L. Anyone else know?

Here's an exotic one: I had a Celebese Halfbeak that was one of the coolest fish to watch and really beautiful, but a pain in the butt to feed. He was a really picky eater. Eventually he started eating flakes, but for awhile I kept him in my guppy breeder because all he'd eat were fry. They love a shallow tank with a lot of current. I think a 20L with a couple of powerheads would be all it would need.

Just another idea...

Rams would be better in a 20L than 20H because there is more floor space. They are bottom dwellers so a 20L is ideal for a pair. Be warned though, you won't want to keep any other bottom dwellers because they are territorial. I have 4 rams and they are a beautiful fish.

I concur with the rams!! German blues are pretty and so are golden rams - but watch out, they can be sensitive initally. Bolivan rams are a bit hardier but not as vibrant. Nice gift BTW!!
