I have a 29 gallon tank with the following occupents:

4 Zebra Danios
5 Neon Tetras
2 Cherry Barbs
4 Cory Cats

I'd like to add some guppies, and I have two questions.

1. Are guppies compatible with the above fish?

2. If I plan to just let the Fry fend for themsleves...is that morally questionable? I feel bad that all those babies will just get eaten. Am I being silly?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, they would be ok with those fish. However... Danios are known fin-nippers so be prepared for that. Its not morally wrong to let the fry fend for themselves. lol Trust me. I've got way more guppies than I need and I'm to the point of letting 'nature take its course'. I even give my other tanks some fry for protien here and there.

I have heard other stories about Danios nipping at the guppies tails. I love having guppies but not sure if I would ever put in Danios with them.

I have all male guppies BUT if I got some fry from the guppies - I think I would let nature take it coarse BUT I would provide lots of hiding spots for the fry.

I want cory eggs, so those I would try and save and put in their own tank.

no,the cherry barbs would eat them alive.i had some that almost killed my male guppy in about 3 hours.cherry barbs are evil.i think you could get some endlers MABY they have less fin,or platys if you just want a livebearer.

Something that may help the fry have a better chance of survival is if you put some floating plants at the surface. I let my guppy fry fend for themselves (and there was a predatory halfbeak in the tank with them) and over 30 survived within a month. I felt bad about letting them fend for themselves, but with the plant in there it made me feel like at least they had somewhere to escape to.
