i use two filters onmy 90litre tank, keeps the water nice n clear and works from either end of the tank so clears any debris quicker........is this wrong, extremely unnecessary or not a bad thing?
yeah it seems to be doing the job now pretty well for 6 weeks. fingers crossed!kraemerwa2003 said:I don't think that it should be a big problem...as long as it cleans your tank...
lol. if the filter has more water in it than the tank, then there is a problem LOLCaptnDan said:I guess it depends on what size filters they are, as in not too small, it's not just "not bad", it's downright good! I have a cannister rated for a 100 gallon tank on my 55g.
Filter manufacturers are always a bit optimistic about what their product can handle...
You really can't have too much filtration.
This holds true till somebody comes up with something stupid like, "Can I use a swimming pool filter on my 10 gallon?"
plah831 said:yup, some people prefer having two different kinds of filters (e.g. under gravel filter with a power hang-on-tank filter) because they do filter in slightly different ways. As jm said, I also shoot for about 10x tank volume circulated per hour because the filtration rates are calculated for the filter with no media in it. So add in the filter floss, bio rings, filter media bag, etc. and it is probably reduced to 5-7x tank volume per hour. For two separate filters, just add their capacity. So two filters rated at 250 litres per hour gives you 500 lph.
OK, did you mean to yell that? Not everyone has a chance to see every thread within 12 hours. I wanted to add a little more info, not just for you but for anyone who might read this.madroosta said:ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
