Ok The 10 gallon tank I had for it will not work seeing the Glass company here says its to thin and they think its tempered. So I need something about 10 gallon size for my refugium to sit next to my 20 gallon long sump. I thought about making a small acrylic about 10 gallon but that is not cheap either.

So my Idea is to take my 10 gallon and try and remove one side and replace it with acrylic. Use a 100% silicone caulk and then I can drill my hole??

How does that sound? Would I just use a 100% silicone caulk to glue acrylic to glass?

I don’t see why i could not do this... It would save money.. would no have to buy as much Plexiglas that is for sure... What do you think?

You'll want to use aquarium sealant instead of silicone unless the silicone specifically says "Safe for aquarium use." Also you'll need to match the thickness of the glass as close as possible. Binding acrylic to other materials isn't exactly straight forward, so do some research on the proper sealant......other than that it should be ok.

I'm not exactly clear on your design, but I think the easiest and cheapest may to do it would be to plumb it with pvc without drilling. The pVC could go up and over the side of the 10 gallon and down as far into it as you want.
Unless you're like me in the train of thought---if you're gonna do it, might as well go all the way.
