What apple snails get big?

I want to get an apple snail for my 5 gallon with my betta. I've heard some apple snail get 15cm in diameter. What kinds of apple snails get bigger than the other species.
 
Not to disagree, flag, but at one of my lfs there was a golden apple snail the size of a baseball--literally--in a tank. She sold it for good bucks, too! Mine has gone from 1/2 inch to 2 3/4 inches in 4 months--intitial growth was quite rapid so I don't know if it will get that huge or not--not really wanting a giant plant-eating snail!! I think unless one is an expert on the variations, it may be hit or miss. . . . . :huh:
 
ramshorn snails would be a good choice, too. mine's about 2" long and high, and they look nice, too.

and they call senegal bichirs dragon fish. sheesh.... but lets not make more wal-mart bashing, shall we?
 
Pomacea maculata AKA Pomacea gigantea are the 15cm ones.
