Hi,

I have a 57G tank with 4 angels , one pleco and 6 zebra danios , i'm using a marineland 400 biowheel (for up to 70G)and a fluval 204 canister filter ( up to 40g ), i adjusted the flow of the canister to low as to not cause to much current I wonder if those filters are ok ? i read somewhere that is better to use an undersized canister filter .
Thanks in advance

that is fine, especially since you have adjusted the flow of the canister. those filters are rated to cycle the water of the tank 5 times, which is not enough. a marineland 400 is good for up to 40 gallons, not the 70 they promise, but canisters are stronger, so you should be fine

Angelfish are a lot tougher than most people think.

In a 75 gallon there is room for a little angel to avoid the current. And I have found that my full grown angels are unaffected by the current put out by my Penguin 350 and AquaClear 110 and they're in a 75, too.

Provide enough spots for them to hide from the current if you are worried.

The angels were only in one side of the tank , they didn't seem happy at all so i endup removing the biowheel and added a aqua Clear 30 instead , they are swimming around just fine now .
Thank you very much for your post.

I have a 30 with wild angels and a penguin 300..they have no issues..but i have driftwood and it's pretty heavily planted..so the fish have places to get away . I also have a 75 with a pump rated at 20 gal/minute and powerheads..this tank has angels and discus..no issues there either.again..plenty of driftwood and plants.

actually, it is the filter system that I use for my angels..I have a ugf with powerheads..I vac half the gravel . over the course of the week I have vac'd the entire tank. as I change water twice per week.

i also use a ac to pull debris from the water column..the uptake tube is fiitted with a sponge.
