If i throw an airstone under some of my LR...

Will this be good for O2 in the water?
May sound like a dumb ? Sorry

Increasing surface agitation will increase the amount of dissolved 02 in your water, but it can have some bad effects on some critters that live on the LR, like sponges. I don't like airstones in Sw tanks, because the bubbles tend to be very tiny--more like diffuse foam. If you are concerned about low oxygen levels, I'd advise using either a skimmer, or putting the air stone in a sump. The skimmer would be a better option, since not only would in boost the 02, but it would also remove a lot of nasty guck from the tank.

Thank you for the reply. I do have a skimmer on board and wan't quite sure if that was enough. Now that you mention it, I can see where the O2 would be entering the water.(in the forced are chamber, duh! Makai)

I also have two powerheads,
should i move one of them to the top to move around the surface water too?

Powerheads are located on each side of the tank pointing toward the front center of the tank. Both are about mid depth...

A powerhead pointing at the surface will help remove the oily skim sometimes reported, but probably won't make a significant difference in the O2 levels. Your call--if it looks like the surface isn't moving, go ahead and move it. We re-arrange the powerheads occassionally in our tank to promote better growth in some areas (example, the xenia move around to the best flow position, and leave baby polyps behind as they move, so changing the powerheads around usually results in more xenia).

Surface agitation will aid air exchange much more than an airstone in the tank.
Go ahead with the power heads and disturb the surface as much as possible without letting the water spray or top the tank.
