I have this 1 Tiger Barb by himself and he is very lonely. All of his other schooling friends died and he survived. I currently have him in a breeder net because he picks on my Mixed Fruit Tetras. He chases them, he nips at their fins so badly I thought it was fin rot and he is always nudging them harshly. I have been trying to get him some friends but my local fish stores don’t have any. I am currently waiting for a new shipment.

Do you think I’m doing it right? If I get him some friends, will he go back to normal and leave my tetras alone?

Reply soon ;)

hmm, I don't have barbs, but I know most schooling fish would stop (or slow down) that behavior with others of their own species around.

Keeping barbs in schools do help lower the nipping. But it also depends on the room. Is your tank big enough?

hahahaha......
palasia,if you get some friend for him he might calm down, how big is your tank.

Man, this thread has it all, doesn't it?

Avatar theft/plagiarism, Politically charged avatars... Oh, and plagiarism again, now that I posted. LOL (I stole a pic from another place and used a piece of it.) And with H3D telling people how to do it, Conspiracy to Steal Avatars. LOL

:joke:

Seriously, if you keep Tiger Barbs in a group of six or more they tend to keep the harassment amongst themselves and leave their tankmates alone. Six is a minimum, provided of course, that won't overstock the tank.
