Hello all i am planing out my next tank (a 125gal FOWLR and some corals like a mushroom or maybe a clam) and while looking into filters i came across Refugiums. I have heard of them but never really knew what they were. So my question is do any of you use a Refugium, How big is the tank for the Refugium, are they easy to maintain, and do they work?

Also please if you dont have a Refugium tell me what you use and how you like it. I really want to make everything perfect. Thanks a lot

Please can any1 tell me anything? I know for sure i want a Mandarin Goby (dont care color but of this type) and from reading about them. They have a low survival rate due to starvation and i dont want that to happen. The website recommends using a Refugeum but i dont know how that will help. Do they have to live in the refugeum

To keep this fish sucessfully your tank should be fine size wise for 1 without a refugium, but you must make sure you don't have other fish that will compete for pods like pipefish and some wrasse.

A refugium is for an area where pods can reproduce without predatation.

Ok so what im getting is that The copeopds will grow and reproduce in the refugium and then enter my main tank. Do they always leave the refugium. Like what if they just stay in the small tank and never go to my big one so the Mandarin can eat them. has that ever been a problem or am i still not understanding this?

This is kinda what i was looking at as far as my Refugium

Also is this enough filtration for a 125gl tank or should i add a wet/dry sump as well
