Right now I have a 5.5 gallon with 1 male betta, 3 platies (+1 tiny baby that appeared out of nowhere :D ) and 2 snails. Everyone gets along great and is doing very well.

Next week everyone will be moving to a 12 gallon and I would like some input from people on what else I can add. I don't want to add a lot, maybe just 2-3 other fish, and I was thinking some kind of bottom-dweller would be good (like otos or maybe something a little more colorful).

Thanks in advance!

oto's or cory's (cory's do better in groups so at minimum 4)

Do you think that a minimum of 4 cories plus the betta & platies I already have is too much for a 12 gallon?

I wouldn't add anything aside from maybe 3 cories - and they need to be the small variety of panda or pygmy cories. The commonly found albino, spotted, peppered, bronze (or emerald green as they are often labelled) all grow too large for that sized tank even though they may look small in the store. If you cannot find panda or pygmy cories (ask if the store orders them), then go with 3 oto cats.

Thanks for your input. I will look for those panda or pygmy cories.
