been very quiet in the forum these days. anyway, just want to share some updated photos of my 10g tank in the bedroom. it's running fine and things seem to be very stable. photos also include a few rainbowfish and amano shrimps. can't wait for those bunches of ludwigia to grow out and give the tank more dimension. i'll give'em a week with the rate they're growing. :D
will try to add photos of the 50g this weekend...
enjoy, and i welcome any feedback. gallery page. (http://www.jaudesign.com/aquaria/)
Those tanks and pics are truly an achievement! I needed to remind myself that these are only small tanks, something I had to remind myself when looking at Amano's smaller tanks. ;)
The 5G is really a glorified hydroponic pond, is it not? Looks great! What type of bulb is in the swing arm light above it?

Very pretty tanks. Comparing something like yours to our tank with the fake plants is why I've wanted to "go live" for so long.

Very nice!
Maybe you've mentioned this somewhere else before, but I missed it. Where did you get those plasticy things that are holding up the canopy on the 10 gallon??? Or were they made? I want to know how.

Very nice tanks, and great pictures as well.
What type of camera do you use?

thanks for the comments everyone.
that 5g tank DOES look like a pond, huh??:D it resides in my office at work for a few years now. that lamp above it is just a halogen light, about 20w or so. not really the ideal light, but the anubias and java moss don't seem to mind. as for the stands, the one used for the 20g is made with pvc pipes. i spent about $10 (can of paint included) at home depot to rig it up. the stand for the 10g is from the manufacturer, and is adjustable as the legs slide along the sides of the hood. oh, and all these pics are shot with the digital Cannon S40, a fairly capable camera. one of the better dim-light shooters out there.
and beaglesaroo, "go live"..!

In your 5 gallon is that tall plant bamboo, and what kind is it?
nvision

yeah, that's an asian bamboo. i'm not sure what kind nor the scientific name of it, but it's everywhere in the asian markets. many local fish stores in my area are beginning to stock them as well for terranium tanks. you may also find the fancier "bent" ornamental versions for a few bucks more, but i think they look too weird for an aquarium.
my bamboo in the photo has been growing for 3 years now, only at 9" when i first got it. ;)

Very nice set-ups indeed! I like the "bamboo" also.. We have one in our kitchen window sill, but growing very weak at best. Maybe it's not the same plant..
Again, very nice! Keep updated pics going too... :)

80gJoe,
I hope you aren't thinking of putting it in with the Discus that you going to give me.:D :D HAHA!!!
nvision,
Them are some great looking tanks and pics. Between tanks that look like those and the pics that people like you and 80gJoe post is why I started my first planted tank. I guess once you go live you never go back.:)
Keep them pics coming,
Dave
Man, you must have to replenish a half gallon a day in that 5G!

matak, i replenish the tank along my way to the restroom down the hall. haha.
thanks again everyone. yes, i'm hoping to post photo updates; it's really interesting to see how the aquascape evolves over time. speaking of which, i still have the photos of the initial setup of the 5g, i just need to dig'em out somewhere, forgot where i've kept them. tyler, i personally find it hard to stop once you're on the roll. i didn't realize i already have 4 tanks(!!) until i created the web page.
and 80gJoe et al, i hate to be missing that groovy AC picnic coming up, hehe...

Don't worry about the money. I'm trying to hint to GEL about talking Dale into picking up the tab.:p :D
I know about the "before you know it" syndrome. That is why I have 6 tanks, 1 pond, 1 dog, 1 hamster, 1 WIFE, and 3 KIDS.:p :D I wouldn't trade any of them for the world, but if you catch me at the right time the wife and kids are negotiable.:p :D If the SO saw this I would be in serious trouble.

tyler, i think we share the same blood. let's see...
i've had frogs, turtles, ducklings, birds, hamsters, and fish. i may well have many of these animals still if i don't end up moving so often. but the fish really stood up to the test of time. http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
by the way, i've just added a photo of the 5g taken only 3 years ago. not much has changed in the tank when you see it, but it's been through 1 major pruning just before the current photo. 3 years, just light and water, and the anubias have only doubled in size. but that's quite all right in my book.

I see you are missing 4 things from your list. 1 wife and 3 kids.:p They are are harder than all the animals put together. I tried to change them in at the LFS, but I would have ended up owing them money.:p :D

I showed my wife your photos earlier tonight. She loved your tanks. She really liked the 5g. I might try this for her B'day. I'll have to decide as time gets closer.

yeah, the thought of children frightens me. i don't think i'm ready for them yet. my gf seems to think the same. :D
right now it's just me, her, a nice home theater system with soft classical music, my tanks, and a book before i sleep. it's the best.
p.s., just updated the pages with 2 extinct tanks i used to have, back in the days. i was bitten by the green thumb and was immediately obsessed with "mounds" of anubias and java ferns. they are still two of my most favorite plants. sorry for the poor scans though, pre-digital photography era...
