 I have ust bought a new Sera 275R air pump for my 100l tank. Previously i had been buying pumps that were to small for my tank and they were not lasting very long. However after speaking to the guy at my local shop he recommended something bigger so came away with the aformentioned pump.

Got home setup the new pump and started it up to find that this thing even though it is about 3 times the size of my old tetratec pump cannot power the air curtain that runs along the full length of my tank.

I know when i bough my tetratec that it took a couple of hours to loosen up but i though with this pump being considerably bigger it wouldnt have a problem!

Anybody got any ideas???

Where is the air pump sitting in relationship to the tank bottom?

The pump is sat ontop of the hood.

i have also tried joining both of the outlets on the pump together, but still no joy.

Do you remember what model/size tetratec you had?

How deep is the tank? How long is that air wall/stone?

It was a tetratec AP150, the tank is 14" deep and the bubble wall is about 26" long.

rheostat turned up all the way? Both outlets supplying the bubble wall?

yeah its turned up to the max. i only have 1 outlet suppyling the bubble wall now as i thought it would be better to have the small stone running at the bottom until the air worked through the bubble wall aswell.

you think i should connect both outlets now, the pump has been running for a couple of hours now?
