I have 4 false Julii in my 10g. 3 always play together and rest together but 1 is usually solo. Would a 5th cory help anything? Is the solo cory just his/her personality? This solo cory doesn't seem sick just a loner.
I've never had cories so I am not sure if this happens sometimes.
Thanks!

Mine are like that too--I have five and four of them play together with one playing by herself--or sometimes three will play together while two play in a different part of the tank. Mine are all the same kind too, and I have a hard time telling the three smaller ones apart. So the solitary one is one of the smaller of them, but I don't know if it is always the same one/

My juliis are exactly the same way. They are the same kind, same size, I got them at the same place at the same time, but for some reason 1 stays alone while the other 5 always stick together.

Hello,
As long as she/he has friends to go to when she/he needs to, she/he will be just fine. Some of my Cories are outgoing while others keep to themselves more. Most fish have different personalities like we do.

My cory's all stick together, but how do you know what type of cory one has?? I got my cory's second hand from my father's tank and would be curious to know what I have? they are all from the same batch of eggs. and just a boring gray color but, they are active and add life to my tank...

Post pictures and we can help identify them--I have bronze corys they are sort of grey brown green, and they are fun to watch.

Hi,
They could be Bronze Catfish, but maybe even Peppered Cories which have a lot of grey on them. It also could be a Emerald Catfish (Brochis Splendens), a very close relitive of the Cory which kinda looks like a Bronze and often gets confused with them. If you send some pics, I will probably be able to tell you what species it is.

Sorry I don't know how to post pic's yet... I know how to email pic's from my phone to the computer and attach in emails but haven't quite figured out this site yet... am working on it though...

Hello,
Thats fine. If it has blotches of grey and dark grey on its body that would mean its a Peppered Cory. If it has a shiny greeny-brown body that would be a Bronze Catfish. The Emerald Catfish looks like a Bronze, but its dorsal fin has a curve in it.
What one sounds like your guys?

I had the exact situation before. I have 4 bronze cories and 3 always stay together while the other spends most of the day inside the fake log. The 4th one will come out from time to time to play and when its feeding time of course. Nothing seems to be wrong here, mine stayed like that for months until I decided to add 2 more bronze cories. Now 4 of them are always together and 2 are always in the fake log. They get together from time to time though.
